Genitio

Genitio is an app for building your family tree with its evidence: every fact says which record it comes from. It costs €6 a month per family, for up to 15 people, with 15 days free.

Rebuild your family history: one person, one document, one connection at a time.

People, relationships and dates as the records give them, each with its source. Upload a record, the AI tries to read it and you correct it. And the whole family works on it together.

€6 a month or €60 a year, VAT included · per family

15 days free, no card needed

The problem

Your family history is scattered: what grandma remembers, photos with no names, a record nobody can read and a tree in an old program. And when two records disagree, someone picks one and the doubt is lost.

What about a spreadsheet or any family tree program?

It keeps the date, but not the words and the area of the record it comes from, nor the doubt when two records disagree. Genitio keeps both, and your tree goes in and out as GEDCOM: you're never locked in.

1 · Start

Your tree, starting with you.

Add your parents, grandparents, siblings and partners, with all their names: birth names, married names and old spellings. Dates as the records give them: "about 1927", "between 1931 and 1933". A day is never made up.

  • The search finds what sounds alike: Meneghello, Meneghel, Meneghelli
  • Already have a tree in another program? Bring it in (GEDCOM)

2 · Prove it

Every fact, with its source… or with the doubt in plain sight.

Every fact can point to its source, the page and the exact words; what has no evidence yet is shown as such. And each says how certain it is: known, probable, possible, disputed or ruled out. When two sources disagree, you see both.

  • Choose one, keep the doubt or mark it to research
  • Nothing is deleted on its own: every change is in the history, and can be undone

3 · Read it

Records, read and corrected.

Upload a photo or PDF of a record and the AI tries to read it: print well, old handwriting so-so. You correct the text next to the image, and each fact can point to the area of the document where it says so.

  • Every correction is a new version; the original is never touched
  • If the AI can't read it, you transcribe it by hand

4 · Together

The whole family, in the same tree.

Invite whoever wants to help, up to 15 people: those who edit, those who upload and transcribe records, and those who just look. Living people are protected: those who just look can't see the day or month of birth of living people.

Who it's for

  • You want to know where your family comes from and have papers, photos or a half-built tree.
  • You're researching an ancestor with few records and want to keep every clue.
  • Several of you in the family work on it together.

Who it isn't for

  • You're after a DNA test: Genitio doesn't do that.
  • You want it to find the records for you: it doesn't search archives or the web yet.

What it's based on

Genitio is based on the records you upload and on what your family knows. Every fact points to its source and says how certain it is. The AI only transcribes: it doesn't create people, dates or relationships; you decide those with the text in front of you.

How we work

What it doesn't do

  • It isn't DNA.
  • It doesn't connect to Ancestry, FamilySearch or MyHeritage: your tree goes in and out as GEDCOM.
  • It doesn't search archives or merge duplicate people for you yet.

Your data

It's stored on servers in the European Union. Only you and the people you invite can see it. We don't sell it or use it for advertising. You can download or delete it from your account.

Questions

Does the rest of the family have to pay?

No. Whoever creates the tree pays, and it holds up to 15 people including them, each with a role: genealogist (edits), contributor (uploads and transcribes records) or viewer.

Can I bring my tree from another program?

Yes, with a GEDCOM file, which almost every genealogy program exports. Before saving you see what's coming in, the warnings and who may be a duplicate. And whenever you like, you export to GEDCOM 7 and download everything (the download doesn't include the record images yet). If your trial ends or you cancel, whoever created the tree can still download it.

Can the AI read old handwriting?

Print well, old handwriting so-so. That's why you always correct it next to the image, or transcribe it by hand. The AI only transcribes: it doesn't create facts on its own.

What about living people's details?

They're protected: people who only view the tree can't see the day or month of birth of living people, and some records are for “contributors and genealogists only”.

What language is it in?

Spanish and English. Names and the text of records are kept in their original language.

How does the free trial work?

15 days without paying and without a card. If you don't add one at the end, the trial simply closes. Your data stays in your account: if you subscribe later, you pick up where you left off, and you can download or delete it whenever you like. One trial per person and app.

Can I pay yearly?

Yes: €60 a year in one payment, instead of €6 a month. You choose when you subscribe.

Can I cancel whenever I want?

Yes, from your account. You keep access until the end of the period you've paid for. Your data stays in case you come back, and you can download or delete it.

Are there suites with several apps?

Yes: Augmenta One and Augmenta Casa. With the same free trial, and yearly billing too.

Do I need an account for each app?

No. Your Augmenta account gets you into every app you have, with the same email, or with Google or Microsoft.
